Our School Council 2024-25:
During the Autumn Term, a School Council member was elected for each class by their classmates. Hopeful candidates put themselves forward and stated why they thought they would be a good representative for their class and then a vote was taken to select the successful candidate.
School Council members meet weekly at each site during their lunchtime, and then they each take the issues discussed back to their class, where the school councillor for the class leads a class meeting. Notes are made in each class's School Council book and then these are fed back at the next School Council meeting.
So far this year School Council have given the children across school the opportunity to voice their opinions on how to mark Safer Internet Day and how to celebrate World Book Day, as well as enabling the whole school to get involved in deciding on menu choices for our lunches.
Another important aspect of School Council is how the class meetings always have time dedicated to children celebrating each other for upholding our school values of compassion, responsibility and courage and for demonstrating our school vision of being the best we can be and being able to flourish. Some classes have even set up 'Flourish Jars' for children to deposit their picks throughout the week, ready to be celebrated during our class meetings. These children and the great example they set are then discussed at School Council and added to the School Council displays across school.
